Abstract

The preservation of heritage is one of the relevant issues to the contemporary city. The historic buildings of cultural interest are remnants of the past that allow retell the origin and history of the city and its old inhabitants. Consequently, they are closely related to the formation of an identity, culture and memory of the city. From this perspective, the heritage education can allow the formation of reflections by citizens, causing them to acquire historical consciousness and interest in matters relating to their city. In addition to these concepts, according to Roger Caillois, playful activities are presented as privileged means where the culture of a people and a society can manifest. Besides providing entertainment, playful activities can also interfere with the learning and development of children, encouraging interest when associated with educational activities. In this perspective, this research studies the use of electronic games as ludic construction tools and apprehension of architectural knowledge. This work is part of the activities performed by the Núcleo de Apoio à Pesquisa em Estudos de Linguagem em Arquitetura e Cidade (N.ELAC) of the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism, University of São Paulo - São Carlos (IAU-USP). Seeking to associate the activities of the N.ELAC to the local cultural issues it was proposed three projects that aim to stimulate the knowledge of the buildings of architectural, historic and cultural interest of the city of São Carlos. It consists in the creation of Interactive Systems: building blocks, origami papers and digital games, which is the specific case of this research. Through the manipulation of the prototypes built (digital puzzles), users should approach the heritage education, acquiring historical consciousness and learning to appreciate the origins and the architecture of the city.
